Wonder Woman! – Erin Lee Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hi everyone! I’m so honored and excited to guest design for Erin Lee Creative’s newest release available today in her shop! The release is full of amazing new stamps, dies, and holographic paper (#needit) with a positive, empowering, girl power theme. I absolutely love it! Have a friend going through a tough time? Need to remind a loved one that he or she can do hard things? Love and gotta have rainbow holographic paper? Then this release is for you! Let’s dive into how I made my card.

Wonder Woman. To start, on watercolor paper, I stamped the main focal image in Versamark Ink and heat embossed in black. Using my Altenew watercolor set, I colored the image with a number 2 watercolor brush. My watercolor style is loose, and I use layers to build up depth in color. If you are interested in watercoloring in a similar style, be sure to apply a light wash of color first. This color will serve as highlights on your image. As you are building up layers of color, let each layer dry before moving on to the next layer. Remember to leave some areas unpainted to maintain the highlights.

After the image dried, I gold heat embossed a sentiment in the banner. The sentiment paired well with the sunburst in the background. Lastly, I fussy cut the image leaving a thin white border around the edge. Because my background was black, I used a black marker along the edges and to cover the white border. In my opinion, this little step helped the fussy cut image look more polished.

Background. I recently watched Jennifer McGuire showcase a technique of using sentiment stamps to create a fun background. With all the amazing sentiment stamps in this release, I thought this card would be the perfect occasion to try it out! On an A2-sized panel of black cardstock, I clear heat embossed the “Girl Power” stamp repeatedly to cover the entire panel. The stamp is large and easy to line up, but using my MISTI helped to ensure a crisp impression. The black on black result added some fun detail that did not distract from my focal image. For another layer and a pop of color, I applied Gina K.’s gold Glitz Glitter Gel over the Rainbow Sunburst stencil from the Look on the Bright Side kit. I love how the rays look like they are emanating from my ‘Wonder Woman’.

Final assembly. Once the gel was dry, I added foam tape behind my image and used a little liquid glue to ensure it would adhere securely on top of the dried gel. I added the completed panel to an A2, side-folding card base.
