Hey friends and welcome back to my blog! MFT has changed up how we’re doing cards and blogs for new releases. Instead of countdown days, there will be one preview day and then the release on Tuesday. After the release, there will be spotlight days when the design team shares inspiration on a set of products from the new release. This is great because the links will be live so if you love something, you can shop for it immediately. 🙂
For today’s preview, I’m sharing a fun card using a distress paint background.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
- Die cut a panel of white cardstock with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die-namics and adhere to an A2 card base.
- Create a background using distress paints. I used a 1.5 inch wide paintbrush and made horizontal lines with picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade and tumbled glass. I mixed the colors together to create the full rainbow. Distress paints are so to fun to work with. While wet, they are water reactive, but once dry they are permanent and won’t move with water.
- Die cut and assemble all the pieces from the You’re a Unicorn Die-namics. I used Sno Cone, Summer Splash, and Tropical Teal for the mane, and Limelight for the hair on top. I colored the stripes in the horn with Snazzy Sparkle Lindy’s Magical powder, and copic colored the muzzle, eye, and cheek.
- White heat emboss a sentiment from One in a Unicorn on dark gray cardstock. Die cut it with a banner die in Blueprints 25.
- Add all of the card front pieces together.
- Embellish with white gel pen detail and add sparkle around the unicorn mane and cheek.

Thanks for stopping by! Don’t forget to set your clocks for the brand new release coming tomorrow at 10am.
P.S. – MFT is having a special birthday sale celebrating 17 years in business! That’s amazing! Even the new release is included, which is not usual so take advantage if you’re in the shopping mood.
