Hey friends! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve written a blog post. I hope all is well! I’ve been taking a little creative break as I have been very busy at work and feeling burnt out. MFT also did not have a regular release last month, so that helped with my desire for a hiatus. Of course, if you ever miss me, please head over to Instagram. I usually post to my stories or I might have a new post that I did not blog about. 🙂
I’m back with a simple-ish card featuring a new sentiment set that MFT is releasing on Tuesday, July 16 at 10am ET. There are seven new ones coming, and I think the sentiment sets are definitely perfect if you’re looking for something unique in your stash! Head over to the MFT blog to see more ideas.

My card features the Healing Words sentiment set. I love the variety of sympathy sentiments and heartfelt messages. To create my card, I created a watercolor, galaxy background using my Gansai Tambi watercolor palette. I used black, blues, purples, and teals over and over again until I achieved my desired look. I’ll be honest – this was not quick and easy. I went over it again and again adding more and more color because I did not really like how it looked. I think you have to add several layers of watercolors and get over the “ugly” stage before adding the white paint for stars for it to turn out ok. I also need to practice more often. I think the more you practice a skill, the better you get. Despite not being 100% about the sky, I like it well enough.
Once dry, I cut the watercolor panel down to 3.75 x 5 inches. Next, I die cut a panel of white cardstock with the Tree Lines Die-namics. I stamped a sentiment from Healing Words with black ink at the bottom. I popped up the tree line with foam tape and adhered on top of the watercolor background. I added it to a white A2 card front that I layered with black cardstock.
I hope you enjoyed this slightly different take on a sympathy card. I don’t think sympathy cards have to be gray and somber. I think the simplicity of the design paired with the night sky background and coordinating sentiment makes for a unique card. I’ll have another design to share tomorrow. Take care friends and I appreciate you reading!

Welcome back Tiffany! I love your card and really love the sentiment. Sadly, I have to mail a lot of sympathy cards so I may have to look into this stamp set. Hope you have a great week. ~Kim in Tx
