Challenge Reminder – PSC#79 Sending Rainbows!
Hi everyone! I’m back on the Poppystamps blog today with a friendly reminder about this month’s challenge – Sending Rainbows! This month we want you to focus on our favorite colors – ALL of them! All types of projects are welcome, but be sure to use at least one Poppystamps product (stamp or die) on your project. The winner (chosen at random) will receive a $20 gift certificate to spend at the Poppystamps store. And there is a fun, new release so you really want to win this month! 🙂 You have until 12 AM EST on April 28 to link up your design. See the challenge post for more details and how to enter your project photos.
To inspire you to join us, I made a rainbow floral card featuring the Memory Box, All the Happiness stamp and Poppystamps, Embossed Love die. I love, love, love rainbows so this challenge was my cup of tea. Making this card was fairly simple, so let’s get to the details.
I started by stamping the largest floral stamp in the All the Happiness stamp set on an A2 card base in black ink. With the stamp still in my MISTI, I stamped and black, heat embossed the floral stamp again on a card front. I positioned the card front panel, that I trimmed to 5 x 3.75 inches, on top of the card base so the stamp matched up. I adhered the panel to the card base with foam tape for dimensions and added some black splatters.
On a piece of mixed media paper, I black, heat embossed the smaller floral cluster from the stamp set. I watercolored the image with the wet on wet technique with Karin brush markers. I added in extra depth and lines with colored pencils. Once the flowers were dry, I die cut them using the coordinating die. I also die cut two additional layers from scrap, white cardstock for added dimension and glued it to my card front. Finally, I added white gel pen details and gold nuvo drops to the center of the flower.
For the sentiment, I die cut it three times from white cardstock and once from black cardstock. On the top layer, I blended a rainbow gradient in Copic markers. The colors I used were: R37, R05, YR16, YR14, YR12, Y18, Y04, YG06, G03, BG13. I don’t have all the Copic markers so I worked with what I had and tried to create as seamless a blend as I could. Once I finished the rainbow blend, I topped the sentiment with crystal glaze for some extra pizazz and let it dry overnight. I am so happy how the sentiment turned out and will be using these colors for more Copic marker blends in the future.
I hope you are inspired to join us for this month’s rainbow challenge. Happy crafting!
