Owl Yours – Crafty Meraki

Hi friends! Today, I’m sharing how I made a mini slimline card featuring the Crafty Meraki Owl Yours stamp set. To start, I prepped my card base and background panel. I made the card base (3.5 in x 6 in) from medium gray cardstock. I dry embossed the background panel with the Eccentric Hearts Die on heavyweight, white cardstock. I adhered the background panel to the card base with liquid glue. Pro tip: Dry embossing is another great way to stretch your supplies and add texture to any card. If you are experiencing tearing or cracking when dry embossing, consider lightly misting the cardstock with water before running through your die cutting machine.

I stamped my images in copic-friendly black ink, and then colored with a variety of Copic Markers in the E and G color families. I fussy cut the images and set aside.

To create the starry night behind my cute owl, I randomly ink blended a panel of heavyweight, white cardstock with a variety of dark blue, purple, and gray Catherine Pooler inks. I feathered in a little black soot Distress Oxide ink around the perimeter as well. Finally, I splattered it with water, white ink, and silver metallic watercolor to add the “stars” and some shimmer. Once the ink was dry, I die cut the panel with the ‘love’ die from the Crafty Meraki Love Slimline Tag Die. I also die cut ‘love’ from fun foam for added dimension.

I heat embossed my sentiment in black on a strip of the same color gray as the card base. I used liquid glue to adhere LOVE on to the background, and I popped up the owl and branch with foam tape. I embellished the card with leftover hearts that I had from using the Eccentric Hearts Die. I simply colored the hearts with an R20 Copic marker and added glossy accents on top. I also added glossy accents to the owl’s beak and feet for a final touch.
